Aeolian Islands

Alicudi Island

Alicudi and Filicudi are located in the western part of the islands. Far removed from mass tourism, these islands make it possible to find the peace and quiet so often eluding us in our busy everyday lives. The seabed around the Canna rock is full of coral reefs and sponges, a paradise for all underwater photographers.

Filicudi Island

Alicudi and Filicudi are islands in the far west of the volcanic island group, the Aeolian Islands. Ferries to the islands leave from Salina (also an island in the group). Here you are far from the madding tourist crowd and you can find all the peace and quiet you could wish for. It is a paradise for divers and underwater photographers as the seabed hosts an interesting variety of corals and sponges.

Lipari Island

Lipari’s lively, colourful harbour is at the foot of a high cliff, where the old town centre used to be. This island has always been the most important of the island group.

Panarea Island

On the island of Panarea there is an interesting archaeological area on Capo Milazzese close to the steep cliffs at Cala Junco where you can see the remains of a fascinating ancient civilization that existed between 1440 and 1270 BC.

Salina Island

If you find yourself on the island of Salina, then you must take a hike up the mountains Monte Porri and Monte Fossa delle Felci. On Monte Fossa delle Felci, an old crater has become home to gigantic bracken (felci aquiline), which together with the rest of the rich vegetation on Salina, makes this a tropical paradise.

Stromboli Island

This is the most northern of the Aeolian islands. With its pure geometric lines, it is permanently encircled by volcanic steam. Its harbour, Ginostra, with its difficult mooring access, is one of the smallest in the world.

Volcano Island

This island with its smoking volcanic pools and bubbling sludge resembles a relic from some distant past. The impressive crater rises 386 meters, and can be easily and safely viewed from the top where you can see the two harbours to the east and west.
