The small town of Furore got its name from the rage ("furore") of the waves as they buffeted the coast of the small bay, with the old harbour situated at one end.

This small forgotten market town became famous overnight in the post war years, when some of the era’s biggest names in Italian film, including Anna Magnani and Roberto Rossellini, used this town as the setting for some of their films. The picturesque fishing huts and winding streets still take you back to days gone by. Further inland is the modern town of Furore, which has often hosted modern art exhibitions. The town prides itself on its nickname, "Il Paese Dipinto" (the painted town) which it received because of the murals painted along the town’s streets.
From Furore we recommend the following excursions:
Pompeii
Positano
Praiano
Ravello
Sorrento
Herculaneum
