The peninsula Lignano is at the northernmost part of the Adriatic coast, between
Trieste and
Venice (nearest airport is about 100 km east of the city and the nearest railway station is Latisana around 20 km away). You can reach Lignano by public buses that run all day.
Lignano is known for its good and wide beaches of fine, light sand and the beautiful pine forests that encircle the city. You could say that Lignano consists of 3 coherent areas; Sabbiadoro, Pineta and the Riviera. Sabbiadoro is the part of the city with most activity and here you will find the 4-kilometre-long pedestrian street, with lots of shops, restaurants and cafes. The pedestrian street is located just behind the beach promenade and range from a fountain to another.
The areas of Pineta and Riviera are green areas with pine forests between tenement and the sea. Here is a calm atmosphere and you will not find same activity in the streets as in Sabbiadoro. In Pineta, however, there is also a centre with shops, restaurants, etc.
Here you will find good bicycling terms and there are good possibilities for long bicycle rides in the area. The city has modern facilities and relaxing and family-friendly environment. Here you will find many activities for children as a playground, Water Park, amusement park, a zoo with more than 1000 animals and it is also possible to do many different sports activities as horse riding, tennis, golf and more
