The region borders Slovenia and throughout the ages it has been ruled by many different power centres. This has left the region full of cultural artifacts. In fact, it is heaving with culture to the extent that you cannot leave unaffected.


The town of
Aquileia is famous for its Roman remains and beautiful mosaics.
Trieste has relics from the different religions that have been present in the region throughout history including the Greek church, the Serb-orthodox church and one of Europe's largest synagogues. Furthermore, Udine in the centre of the region has countless frescos from the 18th century. The region is also well known for its many lovely beaches.
