Le Cinque Terre (the five villages) is beautifully located on the eastern side of the Italian Riviera, on the Tuscan border. The villages balance on the top of coastal cliffs and afford a fantastic sea view. The five villages are: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.
Monterosso is the northernmost of the five villages in the Cinque Terre nature reserve, and it’s easiest to get here by car. The town consists of two parts: the old quarter with traditional fishermen’s cottages by the harbour and the newer part with hotels on the Fegina beach.
This town is thought to be one of the most important on this stretch of coast. Apart from the beautiful green surroundings, there is a lot to see for those interested in history and for the tourist, it’s a town with many hidden treasures.
