Holiday in Gaiole in Chianti

In the middle of picturesque Chianti, north east of Siena, lies Gaiole in Chianti.

The area is known for its world-famous wines, but as well as the numerous vineyards, you can find plenty of medieval castles and fortresses dotted about the landscape.

Nearby is Castello di Spaltenna, where you can see the impressive Pieve di Santa Maria, a Roman village church with three naves, an apse and an outstanding bell tower.
