Pontassieve is about 25 km from
Florence. There is a train station in town, and we can recommend leaving your car here if you want to take a trip to
Florence.
There are lots of restaurants and cafés, and not too many tourists. The Mugello Valley is close by – with its many high-quality vineyards, which produce the relatively cheap and good Chianti Rufina.
Pontassieve’s centre is famous for the remains of its castle,
Castello di San Michele from the 14th century, for its town hall and for the monumental Medici bridge over the River Sieve.
