If you dream of a holiday with a real Tuscan family in a place where children and dogs are equally welcome, you must pay Elisa and Alessandro a visit in their old medieval millhouse by Asciano. They bought the delightful old farm some years ago and started straightway to renovate it. Today they live here themselves with their two children and two very docile Labradors.

Alessandro, who trained as a biologist, likes to inform old and young of the natural habitat surrounding the farm, but his real passion is wine. Thus he has laid down an extensive wine cellar on the farm, ...and guests can buy bottles of wine from here that are far cheaper than you would get in the wine shops. He will also arrange short wine tasting courses for guests.

The place only has four apartments for hire so the spacious garden is never crowded and the hosts have time to look after the guests. There are very good walks in the vicinity, and the charming little medieval town Serre di Rapolano is less than 2 km away.

A well known Etruscan grave is near the farm and open to visits, and in the last few years a series of operas have been performed every summer in the redundant travertine marble quarry nearby. There is also, of course, a swimming pool (12 x 6m) available for cooling down on hot summer's days.

- The apartment is on the first floor of the main building, the old mill, and consists of an entrance hall, living room with kitchenette and satellite TV, bedroom with double bed and bathroom with toilet. In the living room there is a sofa bed, which can be used for a child under 12 years. The furnishings are tasteful with terracotta floors, exposed ceiling beams and antique furniture.
