Assisi is superbly situated on the side of Monte Subasio.

The town is exceptionally well preserved and is absolutely worth a visit if you enjoy history. The influential Order of St. Francis was founded here, named after the child of the town the holy Saint Francis of Assissi. To this day it is the largest catholic order in the world. Consequently the town acts as a magnet for catholic pilgrims and is very popular with historically interested tourists from all over the world.

The atmosphere in the town is quite unique and should be experienced if at all possible.
