Gubbio is one of the most well-preserved medieval villages in Italy. Its history is rich with religious personalities and events and it is one of the most popular destinations for Catholic pilgrims.

Gubbio was originally founded by the Umbrians and in the Middle Ages the town flourished. It is this golden age that has influenced the appearance of Gubbio.

Gubbio retains many of the traditions started by its people long ago and the town’s traditional crafts and trades are still very much alive. Ceramics, production of string instruments and restoration of antique furniture are still amongst its most prominent and successful businesses.
