Spoleto is famous the world over for its festival, which is an important international musical and cultural event.

But Spoleto is more than that; it is one of the most fascinating towns in the region. It is a hilltop town at the foot of Montoluco famous for its 14th century fortress.

The town is a harmonious mixture of styles from the Roman period, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance all joining together to create a fascinating atmosphere.

The museums with antiquities and modern art, the Italian centre for early medieval studies and the experimental theater all contribute to making Spoleto one of the most culturally active and vibrant towns in Umbria.
