Campania signifies beauty, drama, history, culture as well as sunshine and sea; the beautiful Amalfi coast decorated with the classical towns of Ravello, Amalfi and Positano; the Sorrento peninsula with views over the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius guarding the landscape and, in spite of its powerful force, not deterring the locals from occupying its fertile slopes.
The Romans found a refuge in Campania and built splendid towns like Pompeii, which in its glory days had to surrender to Mount Vesuvius' anger. In spite of the enormous destruction and wear and tear during the ages Pompeii is still a spectacular sight.
Campania is a magical experience full of romance, charm and grand monuments, which in spite of past fascination now lie largely forgotten. It is also worth remembering that the region has a rich natural habitat with terrific coastlines, stunning islands, mountains and rivers.
