Piedmont is a green and fertile region with lovely rolling hills, large and small forest areas, the Alps towards the north, which reach impressive heights and almost everywhere endless vineyards planted with some of the best grapes imaginable, such as Nebbiolo.
The capital of the region is Italy's former capital city, Turin. Turin is an undiscovered treasure. The city centre is beautiful and impressive with large squares, many charming streets with great cafes, restaurants and shopping.
In addition to lots of fantastic wine and beautiful scenery, Piedmont can offer the visitor a range of impressive palaces especially from the 17th century. In many places these stand majestic and beautiful on the rolling hills.
