San Vittorino sits on a hill high above Gubbio. Its history goes back to the Middle Ages. From 1163 a source relates how Emperor Frederick Barbarossa gave the castle "Castrum S. Victorini" to Gubbio.

There can not be any doubt whatsoever that this castle with its massive construction in natural stone and its round corner tower is medieval, although nobody knows when it was built or for what purpose. However, it is likely that it provided shelter for the many pilgrims who came along "Via Francescana", the road leading to Assisi and some of the big Franciscan monasteries in the region.

It enjoys a tranquil setting, even though Gubbio is only 5 km away the castle is encircled by its own land with 32 hectares of woodland and olive trees. There are outstanding views over Gubbio from the castle, and all guests are free to use the large swimming pool. There is also a restaurant on the farm serving typical local dishes using the farm's own produce.
