The southern part of Tuscany is full of surprises for those who have never been before. At the same time it also continues to fascinate well seasoned travellers to Tuscany. Palazzo Bandino is located in the hills facing Chianciano Terme, an area rich in culture, vineyards and hot springs.

The farm produces olive oil and several types of wine including the famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and the ever popular Chianti. They also take the risk and produce the traditional capricious vinsanto. This wine, which in taste ranges from anything akin to a dry sherry to a sweet dessert wine, is made by leaving the grapes to dry on straw mats for months until they approach the raisin stage. Then they are pressed and the juice is poured on to small dishes called caratelli. These are sealed and laid down for years. During this time the maturing process takes place and there is no way of controlling it. The making of vinsanto requires both great skill and a good deal of luck, but when successful it is more than worth the trouble! Grappa is also produced here for those who prefer stronger liquids.

If you need exercise we should add that guests are very welcome to take part in the olive harvest in November. If you want a less strenuous kind of activity you can help yourself to vegetables and herbs from the garden as these are freely available to guests.

There is a wine cellar by the house where wines from the farm and other produce is for sale (however, we recommend that you don't try to take entire cows home with you). The farm also has a restaurant and a lovely big swimming pool with terrace and garden. If you want to try out another restaurant we recommend "Il Rabarbaro", which is situated only about 0.62 miles / 1 kilometer from Palazzo Bandino. The place is found in relaxed and rural surroundings with many tourist destinations a few kilometers away and close to Chianciano's spas.

The main building of Palazzo Bandino houses the bedrooms and apartments (on the first and second floor). Another four buildings with apartments are located within 50 meters from the main building. All the accommodation is very well furnished and offers a high standard with Tuscan charm. All apartments are equipped with air-condition.

The 2-room apartment Glicine (ground floor)

The apartment is located on the ground floor in a little independent building in front of the owners' house. It consists of a living room with double sofa bed and kitchenette, bedroom with double bed and bathroom with shower and toilet. This apartment has a private garden.

The 2-room apartment Cipresso (ground floor)

The apartment is situated in a smaller building next to the main building. The building also houses another apartment (Vigneto). The house is in two floors. Both floors have an exit to the ground floor outside which is possible due to variation in the ground surrounding the building. Cipresso is on the same level as the main building and the swimming pool. The apartment consists of a living room with double sofa bed and kitchenette, bedroom with double bed and bathroom with toilet and shower. The apartment has a little private terrace in front of the entrance.

The 2-room apartment Vigneto (ground floor)

The apartment is situated in a smaller building next to the main building. The building also houses another apartment (Cipresso). Vigneto lies a bit lower that the main building and the swimming pool, which gives it a more private location. The apartment consists of a living room with double sofa bed and kitchenette, bedroom with double bed and bathroom with toilet and shower. The apartment has a little private terrace in front of the entrance.
