Casa in Pietra is located along the harbour front in the oldest and nicest part of Sampieri. Right in front of the house the waves beat against the rocks under the promenade, and the fine sandy beach is diagonally across from the house, approx. 50 m away. The main square, which is the meeting place in the evenings for the locals, is only a few steps from the front door.
The house was originally used as a summer residence by one of the most powerful aristocratic families in the baroque town of Scicli, which is a few kilometers away up in the mountains. The elegant facade of the house stands out amongst the more humble dwellings of the neighbourhood, where the poor fishermen once used to live.
The house is split over two floors and has a magnificent roof terrace with sea views. Here a pavilion and a table with benches have been installed. Along the front of the building there is a fenced terrace on the ground floor and a balcony on the first floor. The living rooms and some of the bedrooms enjoy fantastic views over the bay and the sea. The house is in a pedestrianized zone, but motorists who live close by are allowed access. The nearest parking is approx. 100 m from the house.
Entrance to the house is from the back through a large gate. Here a staircase leads up to the first floor. There is a small bathroom with toilet and shower under the actual stairs and an entrance to the large living room on the ground floor.
- On the ground floor there is a kitchen (with oven, fridge/freezer and four gas rings) with access to the terrace, living room with sea views and access to terrace, bed room with double bed and sea views plus access to terrace, a small and rather dark bedroom with two single beds and bathroom with toilet and bath tub.
- On the first floor there is a kitchen with cooker and dishwasher, marvellous living room with sea views and access to the balcony, room with two single beds (can be assembled to one) with private bathroom with toilet and shower and access to balcony, bedroom with double bed, small room with two single beds and bathroom with toilet and bath tub.
The house would suit a large family or two families, who want to live close together, as each floor has a kitchen and two bathrooms. The furniture is comfortable and heavy.
