Baveno was founded around year 1000 AD. Today the town is one of the biggest attractions at Lake Maggiore. Its fame dates back to the 19th century when the bourgeois made this area their holiday destination and built their impressive villas.
This little town has about 800 inhabitants. Castelnuovo Calcea is beautifully located on high ground in the middle of an undulating landscape full of vineyards.
What Moretti lacks in size and action (there is neither much in the way of nightlife nor much of cultural interest on offer) it more than makes up for with its peace, quiet and natural beauty.
Since the late 19th century Stresa has been famous for its picturesque scenery and charming atmosphere. The town is just opposite the Borromeo islands in the middle of Lake Maggiore’s west coast.
