The Aeolian islands consist of seven small volcanic islands beautifully located a short distance from the north coast of Sicily. The islands are peaceful and constitute a wonderful natural paradise with more than 5000 years of cultural history. The Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs and Normans have all left their mark on the islands.
Lipari’s lively, colourful harbour is at the foot of a high cliff, where the old town centre used to be. This island has always been the most important of the island group.
This island with its smoking volcanic pools and bubbling sludge resembles a relic from some distant past. The impressive crater rises 386 meters, and can be easily and safely viewed from the top where you can see the two harbours to the east and west.
