Most people will no doubt immediately associate the name of Bassano del Grappa with alcohol, and rightly so for the well-known ”Italian schnaps” originates from this area.
Although grappa is produced all over Italy today the town has more than its fair share of grappa distilleries. The name carries an obligation! But even if drink does not tempt you, Bassano del Grappa has much to offer.
During the right season you can try the most fantastic white asparagus, and the town’s fine historic centre with all the medieval and Renaissance buildings is here to enjoy all year round.
It is also possible to eat well in the town and with all the cafés there is plenty of opportunity for a quick coffee, perhaps accompanied by something a little stronger.
