Sampieri is beautifully situated in southeastern Sicily. There’s a gorgeous long wide beach here where the sand is as golden and as fine as the desert, and the water gets deep very gradually. The town is both relaxed and atmospheric.

The beachfront here is lovely and well kept, and is dotted with palm trees, reminding you that the African coast is not that far away. In the evenings, the locals come to sit on the benches along the promenade to enjoy the sunset and the cool sea breeze. The town used to make its living solely from fishing. You can still see the old fishermen’s stone houses at the end of the spit, making a wonderful sight in blue and yellow. While adults will enjoy the atmosphere and the view that characterizes Sampieri, children will love the fantastic beach. In Sampieri, you’ll find a pizzeria, a café by the beach, a newsagent, two supermarkets, and a traditional biscuit maker!

Sampieri lies to the south of the Baroque town of Scicli, which has just recently been added to Unesco’s World Heritage list. But Sampieri makes a great base for relaxed trips to exciting towns like Ragusa, Modica, Noto and Siracusa.

In neighbouring Cava d'Alica and Donnalucata, there are lots of restaurants to choose from. In Cava d'Alica, which is about four and a half kilometers away, you can look forward to great fish at reasonable prices in the seafront restaurant L'Ancora. In Donnalucata, just 12 kilometers away, we particularly recommend a visit to the restaurant il Molo, which is just by the town’s very picturesque harbour. The prices here are slightly higher but the food and service make the extra cost well worth it. There are numerous other restaurants in the area serving different types of food.
