Grado is a smallish holiday resort, far out on the Laguna di Grado looking out to the Adriatic Sea and the Gulf of Trieste. The beaches are good, and similar to the beaches at Lignano, Caorle, Bibione and Lido di Jesolo. They are also child-friendly, with soft sand and shallow water for safe swimming.
Besides the beaches and other activities on the coast, there are lots of options for day trips inland to, for example, Udine, Trieste or Venice. It’s also possible to take a trip to Slovenia or Croatia, neither of which is very far away.
The Friuli region is best known for its wonderful dry white wine, such as Pinot Grigio, which is ideal with fish dishes – and fish is something they serve a lot of in Grado!
