The location of Castelsardo on a rocky headland on the northern coastline of Sardinia is very picturesque. The town was built in the 12th century and the city walls and the castle date back to this time.
It is a quaint little town with narrow cobbled streets and a well maintained cathedral from the 16th century when the town was under Aragon rule. The Aragon style of this period can be clearly seen in the architecture of the church tower.
An exhibition of basket weave, the traditional local handicraft, can be found in the town’s little museum.
