Baveno was founded around year 1000 AD. Today the town is one of the biggest attractions at Lake Maggiore. Its fame dates back to the 19th century when the bourgeois made this area their holiday destination and built their impressive villas.
The town is also famous for its pink granite mines located between the town and the Camoscio mountain.
Visitors can choose between numerous restaurants and shops or try any of the various sporting facilities available, such as windsurfing, tennis, squash or trekking.
