There are a lot of Italian tourists in the summer months, and the town has a market in the evening and an amusement park for children. There is a wonderful long sandy beach, where you can either rent sun loungers and sun umbrellas, or choose to go without on the free public beach.
If you are suffering from the heat, or just want to see something new, you can visit the little town of Mutigniano with its fun wall paintings or the slightly bigger town of Atri. They are both situated up in the mountains behind Pineto and are refreshingly cool on hot days.
