Garda is a magnificent town at the southeastern end of Lake Garda. From here you can get to the Brenner motorway via the little Costermano pass, which divides Monte Baldo and Monte Brione.
Many northern Europeans have spent their holidays here over the years. Most of the hotels have been brought up to date and the town has generally undergone thorough renovation. From here there are good bus connections to the northern part of the lake and south to Verona and Peschiera, where you can catch the train. There are also good ferry connections from Peschiera to other parts of the lake.
There is a lovely promenade along the lake with just the right amount of restaurants and shops. It’s just a few kilometres to Bardolino, and if you feel like shopping, visit Via Mazzini in Verona where you can indulge in lots of retail therapy.
