Lake Ledro is not very big and lies in a peaceful area, high up above Lake Garda in the Ledro Valley. The lake and its surroundings are of great historical interest today. This is because many years ago, a power station was built in Riva del Garda, powered by water that flowed through turbines from Lake Ledro to Lake Garda. In years of drought, the water level in Lake Ledro has been known to drop so significantly that lake villages built on stilts are visible on its bed.
Life around the shore of Lake Ledro is, unlike its neighbour Lake Garda, very laid back. Swimming, fishing, sailing and general relaxation are the order of the day here.
