Alicudi and Filicudi are islands in the far west of the volcanic island group, the Aeolian Islands. Ferries to the islands leave from Salina (also an island in the group). Here you are far from the madding tourist crowd and you can find all the peace and quiet you could wish for.
It is a paradise for divers and underwater photographers as the seabed hosts an interesting variety of corals and sponges. Its total area is 9.5 km², and in 1997, three quarters of Filicudi was turned into a Natural Reserve.
