The town's placement with the small lagoon makes the sea water temperature usually 4 to 5 degrees higher than the second place only a few miles away. So this is an excellent seaside resort even in spring and autumn.
The town has 2,500 inhabitants and is divided into two parts: the newer neighborhood on the waterfront and promenade and the old town on the hill. The town has a rich variety of bars and restaurants.
