There are three main reasons why you should come here; the beautiful scenery, the warm welcome and the strategic position from where you can discover the rest of this wonderful region.
San Michele Salentino is a small village in the middle of Puglia which dates back to the 19th Century. It is located about 30 km from the sea, 12 km from the picturesque village of Ceclie Messapica, 14 km from Ostuni and 45 km from the famous Alberobello. Note also that it is only 115 km from Matera, European Capital of Culture in 2019, which deserves a stop.
San Michele Salentino has a supermarket and some other shops, and a large piazza which sometimes is the venue for traditional folk festivals in the summer. Notice that the village has many one-way roads, and therefore it may be difficult to follow the GPS. It's best to park the car and proceed on foot, in doing so you will also encounter the locals.
