Spongano is located about 6 km from the Adriatic coast. The town inhabits about 4,000 people
The village square is widely used by the local community. It hosts a wide variety of events from outside screenings of football matches through to Opera concerts.
There is weekly outdoor market with a good selection of interesting local cheeses and other fresh produce. It is well worth a visit.
However, do not expect too much! Neither many tourists nor the locals speak English. Visitors to Spongano, will experience an authentic environment with hospitable people.
The patron saint, named Santa Vittoria is celebrated from 7th to 9th August. Musical performances and colorful fireworks are shown on the square.
Every year, on August 14, will be held a culinary feast called "Cunserva Mara".
