Villa Santa Maria is situated just outside Marina di Gioiosa Jonica, on a farm with 50 hectares covered with olive- and orange groves, vegetables and vineyards. Their robust wine is for sale in the restaurant on site, which is housed in the old hay barn and olive press, approx. 100 m from the villa.
The villa dates right back to the 1600s, and was handsomely restored in 2001. Its stone facade shows Norman and Neo-gothic features and is adorned by two tall palm trees, which dominate the green garden. In the garden there is a deep, but not particularly large swimming pool with covered veranda. There are also parking facilities, and everything is surrounded by orange and lemon trees. The rugged mass of the Locride mountains rises up behind the villa.
The bedrooms are very spacious and elegantly furnished. They all have mini bar, TV, air conditioning and en suite bathroom with shower and toilet. Breakfast is served on the ground floor in what was originally the villa's dining room.

If we have to find something negative to say about the place, it would be its close proximity to the coast, which means there is a faint traffic noise (dependent on the wind direction) from the road approx. 150 m from the villa's garden and pool. However, it cannot be heard from the bedrooms.
