There are 45 rooms which are simply furnished yet bright and spacious. They all have telephone, TV with some international channels, a safety deposit box, air conditioning and a bathroom with a shower, toilet and hair dryer. Each has a balcony which is smaller for the rooms that face the town and larger for those that face the sea. Please note that the rooms facing the town can be affected more by traffic noise. Whereas those facing the sea can only hear the sounds of the sea and in summer and the guests at the pool.
A nice hotel with its own pool and beach. Lived in a smaller double room with own balcony, and ocean view. Experienced fine service from the staff. In 6 days we felt all at home at the hotel, and amongst the staff. Probably because its out of the season and it only has a few guests. The original old city part of Scalea is worth a visit. The new part of the city isn't something to write home about, though. Very run down and resembles something of the older ways of building in Eastern Europe.
A lovely base if you want to explore Calabria. Don't forget to visit Fiume Lao and Argentino (beautiful rivers), where you can do excellent hikes. Visit Grotta del Romito as well, where you can see some impressive carvings made by ancient people.
