This small municipality near Reggio Calabria is located at the very peak of the region. The village has 2,700 inhabitants and is located on Calabria's east side about 15km. from the Ionian sea and 150 kilometres from the city of Reggio Calabria.
Stilo is a typical southern Italian village whose biggest attraction is undoubtedly "La Cattolica" - the city's most famous church. It dates from the 10th Century, when the Byzantines stayed here. In fact, the entire region of Calabria full of tracks from their heyday, but this is probably the most important symbol from this time. The church was renovated in late 1927 and is still well preserved. It is frequented by locals and people from outside and, together with seven other similar churches it is a candidate for a place UNESCO's World Heritage list.

The village is small, but if you are hungry after a long day of sightseeing, you can find some small restaurants here. Do not expect great gourmet restaurants, but cute little pizzerias and trattorias serving light dishes. If you want a larger selection, you can find several eateries in the village of Bivongi behind Stilo or along the road towards the coast.
