Il Convento is located in Tropea's historic centre in quiet and wonderful surroundings. The building, whose foundations date back to Roman times, is directly opposite the beautiful peninsula with Santa Maria dell'Isola Church.
The building's history is fascinating and is reflected in the architectural features. Christian crusaders stayed here on their way back from Jerusalem. During the 1600's it was turned into a monastery, and then after was used as barracks for the troops during World War II when France ruled this part of Italy.

The renovation of the monastery started in 1987 thanks to a group of friends who felt inspired to save the building from future degeneration. Eventually after long restoration works, the building was divided into two apartments, namely Luna and Sole. From the windows of the apartments you have some the best views in the area of Stromboli volcano and the famous peninsula opposite the town.
The apartment Sole is a nice apartment that can sleep up to 4 people with splendid sea views. The apartment is simple but tastefully decorated with practical furnishings and good sofa beds. The kitchen and the bathroom have been completely renovated. The terrace is like - in good weather - a living room with spectacular views. The apartment has air conditioning, TV, and independent heating for the colder months.
The apartment Luna is an original and prestigious accommodation on two floors. The apartment has a large and stylish living room with a loft, where there are two beds (sofa bed) and kitchen, two bedrooms with double beds, both with private bathroom / toilet. In one room which was an old laundry room, today a bathtub. There is a beautiful French balcony with views of Santa Maria dell'Isola a church and Stromboli volcano. The apartment is also equipped with air conditioning, TV and independent heating.
