Il Convento is located in Tropea's historic centre in quiet and wonderful surroundings. The building, whose foundations date back to Roman times, is directly opposite the beautiful peninsula with Santa Maria dell'Isola Church.
The building's history is fascinating and is reflected in the architectural features. Christian crusaders stayed here on their way back from Jerusalem. During the 1600's it was turned into a monastery, and then after was used as barracks for the troops during World War II when France ruled this part of Italy.

The renovation of the monastery started in 1987 thanks to a group of friends who felt inspired to save the building from future degeneration. Eventually after long restoration works, the building was divided into two apartments, namely Luna and Sole. From the windows of the apartments you have some the best views in the area of Stromboli volcano and the famous peninsula opposite the town.
