During the conversion of the monastery into a hotel, much emphasis was placed on retaining as many of the original features as possible. In-fact the spirit of the place is very historic, you can still feel the presence of the past within its walls and the atmosphere of a former monastery is prevalent. The old church still remains in the grounds, and what was the old cloister is now a beautifully decorated and furnished garden.
The hotel is located on the coastal road on the outskirts of Amalfi and it is actually built into the rock face. The complex also houses an old defence tower on the opposite side of the road facing the sea. Here you will find the lovely pool with deck chairs and parasols and from where there are the most amazing views of the sea and the coast including the nearby town of Atrani.
The hotel reception is located in the former cloister. The hotel has a lift, a lounge bar, a restaurant overlooking the Amalfi Coast, conference rooms and the before mentioned church. The hotel has its own bar and restaurant so you don't have to go too far in search of a refreshments if you don't feel like leaving this beautiful hotel. You can also book a private parking space in the hotel's garage in advance. Parking on the street is free but sometimes difficult to find as there is much competition for these free spaces!
Most rooms have been refurbished from what were once the monks sleeping quarters, and all have views towards the sea. In standard rooms, one cannot expect a balcony, while the other room types almost all have a small balcony or a small terrace. Although they all face the sea, they also face the coastal road and one should expect some traffic noise. The total of 43 rooms are nicely but simply furnished and all have a telephone, satellite TV, a mini-bar, air conditioning and a bathroom with a shower or bath. There is the possibility of storing valuables at the front desk.
