Arriving at Hotel La Conca Azzurra is indeed like stepping into another world. The hotel sits like a haven from the outside world, perched on the rocks with stunning Mediterranean views and a unique ambience and decor.
Just 4 km from the town of Amalfi, you will find this hotel, built completely into the rocks below the coastal road and above the famous caves - Emerald Grotto. However, there is no road noise at all as it is completely isolated. You have to enter into the hotel to appreciate its original essence and charm.

The artistic owner Salvatore Criscuolo has embellished the hotel and its decor with his charasmatic personality, and takes great care to make his guests feel comfortable. La Conca Azzurra has a small reception, a living room / lounge with a balcony and views, and a selection of the very special local handicrafts for sale from the local craftsmen and women.
The hotel has a fairly large restaurant for residents and also outside guests. You can dine inside or outside on the open terrace with stunning views. Salvatore is quite a hedonist, which is apparent when you see his selection of wines that he is more than happy to describe.
Another special feature of this charming hotel is the small private beach nestled below in between the rocks. This can be reached via many stairs leading from the hotel (open between June & September). There is a also a bar service and parking at the hotel. There is no access for children under 12 years old.
There are a total of 18 rooms, divided into three types, all of which are charmingly decorated and have a bathroom with a shower or bathtub, hairdryer, TV, telephone, mini-bar, safety deposit box, air conditioning and a private furnished balcony with direct sea views. Standard rooms have a limited sea view - either from the side or through the beautiful olive trees. Junior suites have a small sitting area and suites have an extra bedroom.

Good hotel with a super location and service.
Positive and happy employees, which gives just a bit extra than what you expect
Totally amazing room with balcony and a double bed, and a fabulous view. Freshly squeezed juice and cappuccino in the morning, which is consumed on a mindbogglingly cosy terrace with a fabulous view. Really helpful, nice and service-minded staff, and all speak fair english.
My wife and I just returned from a 4 day trip organised by In-Italia on the Amalfi coast. We really enjoyed the first two days in Minori at the Palazzo Vingius and then we went to La Conca Azzurra for the last two days. We took the bus to Conca dei Marini from Amalfi and asked the bus driver to drop us off at the nearest stop to the hotel, and he dropped us right outside. We were first struck with how beautiful the view was, even better than the photos! The greeting in reception was very warm and friendly, and they even let us check-in earlier than planned. The room was really great, nice and clean and very comfortable and the sea view was very beautiful. We spent an afternoon down on the wooden jetty by the sea and enjoyed a swim in the very clear blue sea, lunch then a relax on the sun loungers. There is a walkway that takes you down to the sea with amazing views along the way. We met the manager Salvatore who was very friendly and asked us how things were whilst we dined in the restaurant, where the food and service was also excellent. There was a very good choice on the half-board menu for a reasonable price and the outdoor terrace where you have dinner and breakfast is really pretty. It was sad to leave after only two days but hope to go back again one day. It's a very peaceful place all in all for those that love relaxing in a scenic setting. From here it's easy to get up and down the coast using the Sita buses, and there is plenty of information in reception about trips in the area.
I have travelled a lot around the world and been to quite a few hotels in my life, but this was one of the best I have ever stayed in. It wasn't the poshest hotel I have ever stayed in or the most decadent but the level of warmth, kindness, friendliness and care was first rate. Coupled with the professionalism on offer, how clean and tidy it was, and the overall ambiance, and it made my girlfriend Helen and I feel like a million dollars.
Together with the beautiful, breathtaking setting, scenery and location, and the restaurant with its amazing view and incredible food, we did have an extraordinary time. It's also the "extras" that are free, such as its landing sea area at the foot of the cliff which feels like a private jetty/bay (well, it is!), the jacuzzi/spa, the many little terraces that overlook the Mediterranean Sea and the rooftop views. We were also upgraded in our room and they were generous to a fault.
I also want to especially thank Carmen and Flaviana who manned the reception and acted as managers and who sorted out effortlessly the boat trips, day excursions, maps etc, and who allowed me to use the hotel computer to check in for our return flight. And all the waiters and cleaners seemed to have just won the pools, they were so friendly! Utterly incredible.
The best hotel in Italy!
