Gaiano di Fisciano is a village located in a beautiful area of Campania. The area is largely agricultural and mostly known for its chestnuts and olive groves. It is an area known also for outstanding natural beauty. It is situated on a hill approx. 800 metres above sea level with only around 1000 inhabitants. There are magnificent views from the town over Sarnodalen below. There is a small piazza in the centre of town, with a few small shops and bars scattered around. The city is about. 15 km. from the large port of Salerno and approx. 40 km. from Pompei. Naples is about. 65 km. away. During late August a festival is held in the town to celebrate the harvest of the nuts. The children dress up in costumes and there is live music and dancing and plentiful food and drink.
