Maiori is the town on the Amalfi Coast that has the main and largest beach. For this reason it is an ideal holiday destination for families with children. Its history is similar to the other towns along this enchanting coastline - very long and interesting, dating back to the Roman times.
The reason that many of Maiori's buildings are relatively modern is because most of the town was destroyed by a major landslide in 1955, and therefore most of the buildings date from the time after when it was rebuilt.
