Louisa has spent most of her life in this house and is a great story teller in Italian, French and English! The house takes its name from some plants that she brought home from Kenya while visiting her brother. You can admire the garden whilst taking in her story with a good glass of wine in hand.
Luisa has written books and collected materials about the position of women in southern Italian society and culture for decades. Her work has also brought her in possession of old recipes and traditions, and she uses them actively in her cosy little restaurant and hotel. The converted annexe in the garden and two rooms in the house are available to rent. She has help from a young couple and a local girl to arrange the rooms and serve breakfast and dinner.

You can relax in the garden where there are tables, chairs and benches in the sun and shade. Dinner is also served outdoors weather permitting from where you can admire the beautiful silhouette of Castellabate on the mountain top between the trees and the neighbour's house. The neighbour's have a pool which you can also use. It is just 2 km from here to the town of Castellabate and its beaches and quaint streets, where you will find several restaurants, if you want a change from eating at La Giacaranda.
On the restaurant's door, you will probably notice the many stickers that several Italian food guides have donated to La Giacaranda and Luisa. The dining room is basically a house of glass, which Luisa often arranges so that you eat together at the table with other guests. The inspiration for the food comes from local traditions that are both closely linked to the exquisite specialties that were served to the Neapolitan nobility and the more simple dishes that were prepared by the wives of local fishermen and farmers. The atmosphere is informal and you feel in safe hands.
