The buildings date back to the 13th century when some residents from the nearby town of Torricelle moved here. The place was later called Porcili, which means pigsties. In 1900 the city council thought that the name wasn't so flattering and changed it to Stella Cilento. Here you can expect a very authentic area scattered with small farms. Here you have the advantage of living in a beautiful natural setting, away from the concrete construction on the coast yet it is only about 20 to 30 minutes by car to Casalvelino and its beaches if you want to swim or sail for a day.
