Cattolica is a bustling seaside town located in the very southern part of the Emilia-Romagna region and just a few kilometres south of Rimini. The tiny Republic of San Marino is 40km away.

It is a lively seaside resort suitable for both families and couples and it has an English subculture with lots of pubs and a large concentration of British residents and visitors. The beach is welcoming and relatively wide and you can find all the usual facilities there. There is a pleasant old town part which is quite interesting as well as an aquarium 'Le Navi' on the outskirts of town. At Le Navi you can learn about the development of the sea and marine life over the years. Another tourist attraction is the nature reserve 'Parco del Monte San Bartolo', where you can enjoy views of the Adriatic Sea, and where you can also learn about interesting archaeological finds from the area. There is a medieval castle in Gradara, only approx. 10 km. from Cattolica which is definitely worth a visit. If you are well versed in classic Italian literature, then you know that is where the drama of Dante's Paolo and Francesca took place.
