This is a relatively new holiday resort in the southern part of the Po Delta, close to the better-known Lido di Commacchio. Lido degli Estensi is divided from Porto Garibaldi by a man-made canal that leads into a huge reservoir behind the towns.
In Lido degli Estensi there is plenty going on – including lively nightlife. For a modest sum, you can get across the canal in small taxi-boats to visit Porto Garibaldi. The beaches are very good and child-friendly (with shallow water stretching a long way out) and wide enough for both sunbathers and sportsmen to share the beach in peace. There is no charge to use the beaches, but if you choose to use the sun loungers and umbrellas that are available (’bagno’ in Italian), you have to pay.

The area is generally charming, there is plenty of space and only a few high-rise buildings. There is a children’s park for young children, and also a sports’ centre with a swimming pool and tennis courts, a water park and a theme park. There are also several discos that provide a free bus service.
