The small town centre there is a selection of eateries, a choice of around six to eight, some cafes and shops.
Despite heavy bombing during the last World War, the town has managed to recuperate well and is most inviting with a great atmosphere and fine streets. Despite the bombing, a few fine towers still remain and there are also several impressive newer buildings.

The town is described as having beautiful surroundings and is only approx. 30 km southeast of Rome, which can easily be reached by train to Pizza Navona, Campo dei Fiori and the Colosseum from the nearby Campo Leone station (about 4 km away). The train take approx. 20 minutes. Within a reasonable distance you will also find the wine district Frascati, which is known for its white wines of the same name. Also the stately 15th Century villas - Villa Aldobrandini (with its unique and beautiful park) and Villa Falconieri (which includes seeing frescoes) are ideal for excursions in the area. Finally, there is the Castel Romano Outlet 20 km from Lanuvio if you are interested in a couple of hours of shopping.
