Pastena feels like an isolated mountain community as it sits on a hilltop surrounded by mountains on three sides and an open clearing to the other side. Pastena municipality counts just 1,600 inhabitants, most of whom live in the Pastena village on the hilltop. Outside Pastena (5 km) town, you will find the visit worthy Pastena caves that are open to the public.
This is a small town with winding streets, steps, a baroque church and only a few tourists. Outside the resort (5 km) you will find Pastena caves that are open to the public and that were discovered in 1926 by Carlo Franchetti. Sperlonga on the coast is worth a visit from here, with its whitewashed historic centre on a rocky outcrop and the long white beaches either side of the town.
