These apartments are both stylish and romantic with all that you could need for a comfortable holiday. You will appreciate all the personal touches and the classy attention to detail.
Villa I Poggioli is located in the fishing village of Bocca di Magra on the border between Tuscany and Liguria. The town’s beach, marina, three restaurants (including " La Lucerna di Ferro " ), a grocery store and an ice cream parlour can be reached on foot - that is only about .1 km away! Villa I Poggioli has deliberately chosen to offer its guests a little extra to ensure a successful holiday: the "little extra" includes free private parking, high standards, antique furniture, beautiful outdoor areas and a washing machine, dishwasher, air conditioning and Wi-Fi in all apartments. Two of them even have a dryer - otherwise there is a common drying place in the garden. Please note that the apartments have no fixed changeover day. The place is located in the beautiful nature area from where it is easy to get to Cinque Terre - which is in turn, nice to come back again once you have tasted some of the very popular and well-attended fishing villages of the Cinque Terre. The hostess at Villa I Poggioli also provides bikes free to guests. These include two new mountain bikes and a few ordinary bicycles.

From the moment she instantly answered our emailed questions before our stay, we knew Rosella would be an excellent host. She communicated with us a few days before our reservation started, greeted us on arrival with brochures on the region and unobtrusively periodically during the week asked if we needed any help or more information. Checking out was simple and Rossella gave us a warm goodbye.
Our apartment was exactly as described on the website. It was sparkling clean and fully equipped. The large terrace at the rear of the house was a Garden of Eden, with our own private spot just outside our door.
Villa I Poggioli is in our experience the perfect location to explore Bocca di Magra on foot and further away by car. The villa is a short walk to the harbor and beach but on a quiet residential street. Carrara is a short drive into Tuscany and La Spezia's main train station is also an easy drive for a visit to Cinque Terre.
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at I Poggioli, and highly recommend that anyone considering a holiday in the region take advantage of Rossella's hospitality.
Here, everything lived up to the description. Nice hostess and good conditions.
Well-kept, clean and lovely. Green, vigorous and nice. The hostess is a league of her own - SO kind and helpful!
We were 2 adults living in the apartment 'Brio' for one week in July 2015.
The apartment suited us well in terms of spaciousness and standard. We frequently used the table in the lovely farmyard.
You have to be prepared to carry your food 20m from from the apartment, however.
The apartment appeared new and well kept, with all modern conveniences, in the form of washers, etc, and air conditioning, which was a must.
We needed and ironing board and flatiron, and our lovely hostess brought us one within a few minutes, after we asked for one. We tried most of her recommendations:
- Pizzeria - 5 min walk from the villa: fine quality for pirce. Lagano in KBH is better, though...
- The restaurant just across the pizzeria: Same owner and fine quality for price. Service was a bit slow, though. Good view. Book a table for Saturday especially.
- La Burlanda: Nice view from up in the hills. Charming place and good food. Cheap compared to the amount/quality. If convenient, ask to see their showroom with olive oles, tomato purée, honey, etc.
- Cinque Terre: Driving to La Spezia to take the train worked fine. Far cheaper than DSB. The parking space beneath the train station was full, so expect to park a bit further away. It worked fine for us. We recommend taking the boat back. Nice trip, 18 Euro per. adult.
- The local beach: Was the only minus. It is small and wasn't of particularly high quality. We didn't try the even smaller, private beach next to it. It was far better to drive for 20-30 mins to the other side to the private beaches.
