Cinque Terre as a holiday destination

The marble mountains at the opposite side of the river just has to be visited. Drive up to the refuge Carrara, and walk the 40 minutes to Monte Borla from there. Then you're at the top of the world.

Well-kept, clean and lovely. Green, vigorous and nice. The hostess is a league of her own - SO kind and helpful!

We were 2 adults living in the apartment 'Brio' for one week in July 2015.
The apartment suited us well in terms of spaciousness and standard. We frequently used the table in the lovely farmyard.
You have to be prepared to carry your food 20m from from the apartment, however.
The apartment appeared new and well kept, with all modern conveniences, in the form of washers, etc, and air conditioning, which was a must.

We needed and ironing board and flatiron, and our lovely hostess brought us one within a few minutes, after we asked for one. We tried most of her recommendations:
- Pizzeria - 5 min walk from the villa: fine quality for pirce. Lagano in KBH is better, though...
- The restaurant just across the pizzeria: Same owner and fine quality for price. Service was a bit slow, though. Good view. Book a table for Saturday especially.
- La Burlanda: Nice view from up in the hills. Charming place and good food. Cheap compared to the amount/quality. If convenient, ask to see their showroom with olive oles, tomato purée, honey, etc.
- Cinque Terre: Driving to La Spezia to take the train worked fine. Far cheaper than DSB. The parking space beneath the train station was full, so expect to park a bit further away. It worked fine for us. We recommend taking the boat back. Nice trip, 18 Euro per. adult.
- The local beach: Was the only minus. It is small and wasn't of particularly high quality. We didn't try the even smaller, private beach next to it. It was far better to drive for 20-30 mins to the other side to the private beaches.
