You will just love Relais del Maro, in-fact you are most likely to want to take up permanent residence here! The combined effect of the warm decor, thoughtful touches throughout, the panoramic pool and the charming surrounding village all contrive to create a perfect sense of harmony with an incredible atmosphere.
The warm reception and the constant kindness awaiting you here comes from Elena and her parents whose roots in the local community date back over generations. Elena has travelled the world but has decided to return to her roots. The building which houses the Relais del Maro has been in the family for generations and the grandparents once ran a butcher shop where the reception currently is. One particular feature that guests enjoy is that there is a coffee corner in the breakfast room, which offers tea, coffee and delicious homemade cakes every day between 17:00 and 19:00 - included in the price.

The beautiful and attractive garden is on a raised level, which means that it looks out over the village, the road and the river. From the pool it seems as though the garden is a direct extension of the church square, which provides a postcard-like effect. In the garden there are several cosy corners and sections of furniture, either tables and chairs or loungers and parasols. In summer, lunches are served in the garden at a very reasonable price, so if the thought of having to leave your sun lounger to go in search of an eatery is unbearable, then there is no need to do so! Furthermore, there is a living area on the 1st floor with a library, an internet point and board games where you can enjoy a quiet moment.
The breakfast is indeed a story in itself - and therefore deserves a chapter to itself. The breakfast room is located on the ground floor next to the reception in a beautiful vaulted room with exposed stone walls. The buffet embraces all sorts of delicious products including both fruit, dairy products, delicatessen meats and pies. Coffee and tea is served by the friendly family. The homemade products such as bread and jam, and other local products comply to the fullest possible extent to organic principles. In-fact since Relais is an Ecoworld hotel, the whole operation here adheres to sustainable and environmentally economic principles.
Should you have to put your finger on potential sources of dissatisfaction here, we should mention that Relais del Maro is next to a road in the village where there are sometimes passing cars - and near the site is a school, but it is closed for summer holidays between mid June to mid September. You will also hear the village church bells which chime every half hour. Other than that, there are soothing sounds of nature such as frogs croaking the rippling of the river. Some will find these sounds meditative, however all rooms have double glazed windows just to ensure that you have a good nights sleep.
Relais del Maro is a so-called diffused hotel as its rooms are spread throughout the village. The rooms are contained in three buildings: Most are in the main building while the rest lie in two other buildings in the middle of the village Borgomaro (max. 150 m). The two buildings in the village, Casa nel Borgo (house of the great-grandparents) and Fienile (a 16th Century barn), are more peaceful as they have no road or river outside. Casa nel Borgo consists of six rooms - and there is a communal terrace and living room here but there is no lift. In Fienile, located high up in the village, there are two rooms on the ground level (maximum two people in each) which can be connected and an option for families. There is a garage on site, which can be reserved for a small fee - otherwise free parking on the road is usually possible. Relais del Maro have two rental scooters available (for a surcharge) if you wish to explore a bit further a field.

The hotel is very lovely decorated, and the staff is very accommodating and helpful. There is a lot of attention to details, and the breakfast is nicely made from good ingredients. Also nice, that every afternoon cake, coffee and tea is served. The garden and the pool is very well-kept and beautiful, and it's really nice just to relax in. Borgomaro is a genuine Italian village, where you can get an authentic atmosphere and few tourists.
A beautiful place far away on the Italian countryside, in a little Italian village.
We were satisfied with our stay and especially with the amazing view from the garden and the service provided by the friendly staff
Very beautiful place. Clear information and service. Excellent breakfast.
Lovely hotel with a fantastic friendly and helpful host. Everything is just wonderful, aesthetic and lovely small details such as fresh flowers, fragrance sticks and candle light in the evening. Really lovely garden with a little pool and really nice breakfast with local specialties. Also possible to buy lunch. This hotel is located in a little town and is actually the only hotel. There is to restaurants nearby or else you need a car.
