Monte Portofino, towering 416 meters above sea level along Ligurias colorful and dramatic coastline. San Fruttuoso a is known monastery Abbazia di San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte from the 1300s, and has the majestic defense tower Torre Doria . In addition, the city is known for the beautiful statue Cristo degli Abissi , a 2½ meter high underwater statue depicting Christ with open arms and gaze directed towards the ocean surface. The statue is 17 meters below the surface, and has been there since it was submerged in 1954.
