We had, before our trip, read some of the reviews from earlier guests at Ippotur - and some were critical, so we were prepared for something near the worst, when we arrived. The cabin was small and old and cleaning wasn't fantastic. The location, on the other hand, was amazing along with a view over the valley, our own private terrace, where we grilled some nights, and the pool was fantastic. The Italian owners were very friendly and accommodating, so we felt very well received. We spent 14 days at Ippotur and had a lovely holiday. We could definitely see us ourselves returning some other time.
Pisa and Florence are a must, but also Sarzana and Carrara are worth a visit. We also drove to Grotta del Vento (Wind's cave) by the mountain road. The drive to it was almost as big of an experience as the dripstone caves themself.
