On the coastline between Genoa and La Spezia you find a harmonious little town called Chiavari. This historical town with old monuments and churches from the Middle Ages is a sightseeing must.
Whilst it is not a tourist town as such, it presents a real possibility to get in touch with the local community. There are many lively markets here and a rather lovely botanical garden. Plus there are some wonderful culinary experiences to be had in this town. Its many restaurants provide a varied selection of dishes with fresh vegetables and fish.
